## Overview

[Stability AI's developer platform](https://platform.stability.ai/) is the REST API for the Stable Image and Stable Diffusion 3.5 image models, image editing and upscaling endpoints, Stable Audio, and Stable Fast 3D. New accounts receive **25 free credits for initial testing and evaluation purposes** (stated in the platform's Getting Started flow), so you can call the API before adding billing.

## Free Tier Quotas & Limits

API usage is credit-based. Current per-request credit prices on the platform:

- **Image generation:** Stable Image Ultra 8, Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large 6.5, SD 3.5 Large Turbo 4, SD 3.5 Medium 3.5, Stable Image Core 3, SDXL 1.0 from 0.9
- **Editing:** Erase 5, Inpaint 5, Outpaint 4, Remove Background 5, Search and Recolor 5, Search and Replace 5, Replace Background & Relight 8, Structure 5, Sketch 5, Style Guide 5, Style Transfer 8

## How to Get Started

1. Create an account at [platform.stability.ai](https://platform.stability.ai/).
2. Open the account's API Keys section; a key is created on signup, and up to 10 keys can be managed.
3. Send requests to the v2beta REST endpoints with `Authorization: Bearer sk-...`.

The platform also exposes image editing (erase, inpaint, outpaint, search-and-replace), upscaling, and 3D generation endpoints, all spendable from the same credit balance.

## Eligibility

Outputs can be used commercially under Stability AI's Community License for organisations with annual revenue below US$1M; larger organisations require an Enterprise License.
