Photon - the open-source framework that connects AI agents to messaging platforms - launched Photon 2.0 on October 15 with a builder incentive: $100 in free credits for everyone building messaging agents during the public beta.
What Photon 2.0 does
- One unified API connecting your agent to iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email, and voice
- Rebuilt engine and infrastructure: faster delivery, more reliable routing
- Works with agent frameworks as the messaging layer - bring your existing agent, add channels in one click
- Open source at its core, with a hosted platform on top
The company raised a $4.5M round (announced October 1) to build out agent-messaging infrastructure.
How to claim the $100
- Go to photon.codes/beta
- Continue to Photon 2.0 early access and create your account
- Credits apply to your beta workspace for building messaging agents
Caveats
The $100 grant is announced on X, but the credit terms aren't documented on-site yet (no expiry, usage scope, or per-account rules published) - typical for a beta, but check your workspace billing page after signup
Platform fee structure still shows beta-stage; message-channel costs (WhatsApp/SMS carrier rates etc.) may still apply beyond credits
iMessage support historically requires Apple-side setup - check their docs if that's your target channel
