What you get from Cline Free Models for free
Overview
Cline runs free model promotions that let any user with a Cline account try select models at no cost, up to a limited usage quota.
How It Works
- Free models appear tagged FREE under the Cline (usage-billing) provider and ClinePass provider during promotions, selectable via the model selector in the IDE extension or CLI.
- Promotions rotate on a limited-time basis; the available models and quota change over time and are not published as a fixed list.
- Free models work only in the IDE extension and CLI — they are not supported through the Cline API.
- Free model usage may be used to help improve model performance and quality, so avoid sending sensitive code.
After the Quota
Once a promotion's usage quota ends, options are ClinePass at $9.99/month, Cline usage-based billing with credits, or bringing your own API key (Cline remains open source and BYOK still works).
