How to Use GLM 5.3 for Free Inside the Cline Extension

14 de set. de 2026, 14:52

Esta seção está em inglês.

Pairing an autonomous coding agent with a capable reasoning model streamlines development without compounding monthly API costs. You can set up GLM 5.3 inside VS Code using the Cline extension in under three minutes via Token Router's free access tier.

Step 1: Install Visual Studio Code

Ensure you have a current installation of VS Code on your machine (available across macOS, Windows, and Linux). If you do not have it installed yet, grab the official installer and launch the editor.

Step 2: Install the Cline Extension

  1. Open VS Code.
  2. Click the Extensions icon on the left Activity Bar (or press Ctrl+Shift+X / Cmd+Shift+X).
  3. Search for Cline.
  4. Click Install.

Step 3: Generate Your Token Router API Key

Token Router acts as the gateway to access the model endpoint:

  1. Navigate to Token Router and create a free account.
  2. Head to the dashboard and generate a new API key.
  3. Copy both your API key and the provided Base URL for later use.

Step 4: Configure Cline to Use GLM 5.3

  1. Open the Cline extension tab in VS Code.
  2. Open Settings (gear icon) and go to Provider → API Customization (or select OpenAI Compatible).
  3. Paste the Base URL provided by Token Router into the Base URL field.
  4. Paste your API Key into the corresponding field.
  5. In the Model ID field, set or select GLM 5.3 (e.g., z-ai/glm-5.3-free).
  6. Click Done / Save.

Once configured, Cline can immediately read project context, generate boilerplate, edit files, and resolve terminal errors using GLM 5.3 without token charges. Keep in mind that promotional free routing tiers are typically available for a limited time, so take advantage of the allocation while the endpoint remains active.
