OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT-6 Luna and GPT-6 Sol in Codex, giving ChatGPT Plus users a cheaper model for routine coding and a stronger option for difficult work. A workflow proposed by Rahul combines Luna, Sol, TypeSafe's Jev decision model, and deterministic verification tools.
Key points from the setup:
- Luna handles routine implementation with reasoning increased only when needed
- Sol High is reserved for repeated failures, security-sensitive changes, migrations, and other difficult tasks
- Jev classifies task complexity and decides whether to continue, retry, finish, or escalate; it does not write code
- Compilers, type checkers, tests, linters, and
git diffprovide evidence instead of asking an AI model to guess - Luna and Sol each support a 1.05M-token context window; standard input pricing is $0.10 and $2.00 per million tokens respectively
The base subscription is ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month, but it is not unlimited: Codex still enforces usage limits. Jev is a separate TypeSafe service in early access, so its usage may add cost.
