Koyeb Free Web Service and Postgres Tier

Overview

Koyeb is a serverless platform for deploying containers and applications from Git, Docker images, or templates. Its pricing FAQ documents a permanent free instance type: "Each organization has access to: One free web Service in the Frankfurt or Washington, D.C. regions with 512MB of RAM, 0.1 vCPU, and 2GB of SSD. One free PostgreSQL database limited to 5 hours of active time and 1GB of storage."

Free Tier Quotas & Limits

• Web service: one free instance type per organization, billed at $0. It is available in Frankfurt (fra) and Washington, D.C. (was) only, with 512 MB memory, 0.1 vCPU shares, and 2,000 MB disk, for web services.
• Database: one free PostgreSQL instance with 0.25 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 1 GB storage, and 5 hours of active time per month, in Washington, D.C., Frankfurt, or Singapore.
• "You will never be charged when using the free web Service."
• Scale-to-zero is available for Services, so idle apps release resources. The free instance does not support persistent volumes.
• Capacity beyond the free instance is billed per second; services can be horizontally scaled and paused.

Account requirements: Koyeb requires a credit card for identity verification and places a $29 pre-authorization hold that is cancelled immediately. The pricing FAQ also notes that Pro is the plan selected at signup, and the pro-rated Pro amount is charged unless you downgrade to the Starter plan, which is free and includes the free instance.

How to Get Started

1. Create an account at app.koyeb.com/signup with GitHub or email.
2. Downgrade to the Starter plan in the Usage and billing section to avoid the pro-rated Pro charge.
3. Create a Service and deploy from a Git repository, a container image, or a pre-built template; it will run on the free instance.
4. Optionally provision the free PostgreSQL database from the dashboard.
