Overview
ToText by Lovelace Loom is a voice recorder and transcription app for iPhone and iPad. You record in the app or import existing audio, and ToText produces a searchable transcript plus a short summary, action items and tags. The free plan needs no ToText account and no purchase.
Free Tier Quotas & Limits

- Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month in UTC; unused minutes do not roll over

Paid plans (prices as listed on the vendor page for the US, 2026-10-11): Basic adds 1,000 minutes per month and up to 30 questions per recording ($4.99/month or $44.99/year); Pro adds 2,000 minutes and no per-recording question limit ($9.99/month or $89.99/year). Purchases go through the App Store.
Languages
Transcription supports 60 languages. You set a primary language and an optional second language for recordings that mix them. ToText does not translate transcripts.
Privacy
Recordings, transcripts and summaries are stored on your device, with optional iCloud sync. Uploaded audio is normally deleted after processing; for questions, the question and relevant transcript text are sent to an AI provider to generate the answer.
How to Get Started
- Install ToText from the App Store (iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 or later).
- Record or import audio; no sign-up is needed for the free plan.
- Upgrade in-app only if you need more than 60 minutes a month.
