Mô hình của chatbot không thay đổi khi bạn trò chuyện, và mỗi cuộc chat mới bắt đầu không còn dấu vết gì của các cuộc trước: nó chỉ biết những gì được gửi trong cuộc chat đó. Tính năng “memory” (bộ nhớ) lưu ghi chú về bạn rồi dán chúng vào prompt.

Quá trình huấn luyện đã đặt xong trọng số (weights) của mô hình trước khi bạn tới, và trò chuyện không làm chúng thay đổi: cùng một file trả lời tất cả mọi người. Mỗi câu trả lời được tính từ một thứ duy nhất, là ngữ cảnh (context) app gửi kèm request đó. Cuộc chat mới gửi một ngữ cảnh mới, gần như trống, nên chuyện hôm qua đơn giản là không có ở đó.

Tính năng memory làm việc dán ghi chú này thay bạn. ChatGPT có thể dùng các memory đã lưu và các cuộc chat cũ; Claude lưu các chủ đề và mang chúng sang cuộc chat mới. Temporary chat của ChatGPT và incognito chat của Claude không lưu memory mới. Ghi chú chiếm chỗ trong context window, và một ghi chú lỗi thời sẽ bị nhắc lại đầy tự tin cho đến khi bạn sửa hoặc xoá nó.

Trong ChatGPT Free, gửi “Remember that I’m vegetarian.” (Hãy nhớ là tôi ăn chay.) Mở một cuộc chat mới và hỏi “Suggest a dinner for me.” (Gợi ý cho tôi một bữa tối.)
