Overview
Hetzner's Community platform publishes technical tutorials and pays accepted authors in Hetzner Cloud credits. Contributors submit original tutorials about free and open-source software to the community-content repository on GitHub, where Hetzner reviews and publishes them.
Free Tier Quotas & Limits
According to Hetzner's official contribution guidelines:
- New tutorials are rewarded with up to EUR 50 in Hetzner Cloud credit, with the final amount depending on how detailed and in-depth the tutorial is.
- Major updates to existing tutorials are rewarded with about EUR 10 in credit; minor updates are not rewarded.
- To receive a credit, the author must have at least one invoice on their Hetzner account, so a paid account is required.
- Tutorials must be original content, must not be primarily or entirely AI-generated, and must cover free and open-source software topics.
- The credit is added to the contributor's account after a Community Manager confirms acceptance by email.
How to Get Started
- Read the contribution guidelines and review existing tutorials.
- Write an original tutorial and open a pull request against the
hetzneronline/community-contentrepository. - After review and publication, respond to the Community Manager's email with your Hetzner account number so the credit can be applied.
Hetzner Cloud servers start at EUR 3.49/month, so a EUR 50 credit covers several months of a small instance. Note that Hetzner does not advertise a standing signup or referral credit for new Cloud accounts; this tutorial reward is the documented way to earn Cloud credits.
