Stability AI 25 Free API Credits

Overview

Stability AI's developer platform is the REST API for the Stable Image and Stable Diffusion 3.5 image models, image editing and upscaling endpoints, Stable Audio, and Stable Fast 3D. According to Stability AI's official knowledge base, new accounts receive 25 free credits for initial testing and evaluation purposes, so you can call the API before adding billing.

Free Tier Quotas & Limits

API usage is credit-based. The credit prices published in Stability AI's API pricing update (effective 1 August 2025) include:

• Edit: Erase 5 credits, Inpaint 5, Remove Background 5, Search Replace 5
• Upscale: Fast 2, Conservative 40, Creative 60
• 3D & Audio: Fast 3D 10, Text to Audio 20, Audio to Audio 20
• Image generation (Stable Image Ultra, Stable Image Core, Stable Diffusion 3.5 family) is charged per generation at the rates listed on the platform pricing page

The 25-credit grant applies to new accounts as a one-time allocation. Credit pricing and the exact per-generation cost of each image model are published at platform.stability.ai/pricing.

How to Get Started

1. Create an account at platform.stability.ai with email and password, Google, or GitHub.
2. Open the account's API Keys section; a key is created on signup, and up to 10 keys can be managed.
3. Send requests to the v2beta REST endpoints with Authorization: Bearer sk-....

The platform also exposes image editing (erase, inpaint, outpaint, search-and-replace), upscaling, image-to-video, audio-to-audio, and 3D generation endpoints, all spendable from the same credit balance.

Eligibility

Outputs can be used commercially under Stability AI's Community License for organisations with annual revenue below US$1M; larger organisations require an Enterprise License.
