Jina AI 10M Free API Tokens

Overview

Jina AI gives every new API key 10M free tokens pooled across its Search Foundation products. The same balance can be spent on the Embeddings, Reranker, Reader, Classifier and Segmenter APIs, so you decide how to allocate it between vector search, reranking and URL-to-Markdown extraction. Keys are generated automatically and no credit card is required.

Free Tier Quotas & Limits

• 10M tokens per API key, shared across all Search Foundation APIs.
• Embeddings and Reranker: 100 RPM and 100,000 TPM on a free key.
• Classifier: 25 RPM and 25,000 TPM.
• Reader: 500 RPM with a free key, or 20 RPM with no key at all.
• Search (s.jina.ai) requires a key.
• 2 concurrent requests, with a global IP ceiling of 10,000 requests per 60 seconds.
• Tokens are consumed per call and there is no monthly free refill. Once the pool is empty you buy token packages; paid keys raise limits to 500 RPM / 2,000,000 TPM (Standard) and 5,000 RPM / 50,000,000 TPM (Premium).

Key Models

Model IDs documented on the official Embeddings page include jina-embeddings-v5, jina-embeddings-v4, jina-embeddings-v3, jina-reranker-v3, jina-clip-v2 and jina-colbert-v2. The Reader exposes r.jina.ai/<URL> for page-to-Markdown conversion and s.jina.ai/<query> for web search, both billed from the same token wallet.

How to Get Started

1. Open any Jina product page, for example jina.ai/embeddings. A key with the free tokens is generated for the session and shown in the playground.
2. Copy the key (format jina_***).
3. Sign in at the API dashboard to attach the key to your account so it is not tied to the browser session.
4. Call the API with Authorization: Bearer jina_***.

The Reader also works without a key: curl https://r.jina.ai/https://example.com.
